Crisp

GUEST POST: ERIC

aka foodie friend.

after winning our taco bell challenge. i believe he crushed 15 tacos.

the lowdown:

    • ★★★ would definitely go back, but only for the wings
    • $ (~$10/person)
    • casual
    • good for twos & fours – picnic style
    • neighborhood: lakeview

I’m typically not a fan of chicken wings.  For a miniscule amount of meat they consume a too much time, and too many trees.  Have you ever seen the pile of napkins dwarfed by the pile of chicken bones?  Never….unless you’ve been to Crisp.

Crisp Wings are 4-5 star worthy but sauce selection is critical.  I made the mistake of trying the flagship “Crisp BBQ” sauce and was disappointed.  Go with the Korean pun-inspired, “Seoul Sassy” instead,  it Paks far more flavor.   The texture of these wings is ideal, reminding me of perfectly cooked duck – tender moist meat beneath a thin crispy layer of skin.  And finally, as I alluded to above, the size of the wings are impressive, and you’ll leave fuller than the trash can for once.

Buddha Bowl: 2.5 stars.  Was impressed with the amount of meat and the variety of veggies but surprised by the lack of unique flavor.  Enlightened customers will order a side of Seoul Sassy to add to their bowls.

Crisp also often offers a combo meal I’m leery of because it includes a whole fried chicken.  If the wings are that big, how big is the chicken?
