La Madia

sit-down pizza.

the lowdown:

    • ★★★★ i’m coming back
    • $$ (~$30/person when sharing)
    • casual
    • good for groups
    • go for dinner
    • neighborhood: river north
    • tip: opentable reservations

la madia, you’re good at what you do. to me, this is what a solid four looks like.

pizza, wine, group dining. it’s a fun, affordable spot if you’re feeling a girl’s night, double date, or something of the sort. and it’s thin pizza, not the coma-inducing stuffed chicago pizza – so it’s great before a night out.

for a group of four, a salad and two-three pizzas will do to split.

pizzas: my favorites are the cracked egg (with prosciutto! mmm) and lamb sausage.
salads: just do chopped italian, pretty awesome.
wines: wine of the week – cheap and delish.

chopped italian lettuce salad

top: cracked organic egg with prosciutto
bottom left: triple pepperoni
bottom right: lamb sausage

so if you’re planning on checking it out, use opentable to get a reservation just in case (it’s always busy there). and i’d stay on the pizza side of the menu, haven’t heard or tasted good things besides the pizza.

the staff has some room for improvement, but i usually drink enough not to care.
