ATX: Austin Java

austin java’s an easy choice for good coffee and good food and good times.

the lowdown:

    • ★★★★ an oldie but goodie.
    • $$ (~$10-15/entree)
    • casual
    • good for groups
    • neighborhood: UT campus

i miss austin java. i drink out of my austin java tumbler almost every day.

it’s still great for brunch – i love their patio…put me there with a couple of breakfast tacos in hand and a coffee and i’m good to go. their sandwiches are good stuff too.

ah, and their sangria is interesting – with some cinnamon in it!

you’ll be in and out quick, or you can mull over your coffee for awhile without any pressure to get out. there’s multiple locations that are all pretty close so choose wisely depending on your preference of crowd size.

the big thing here (at the barton springs locale), is that i wish it was still over the counter and not with a waitstaff…why the change? it was their thing. the one on lamar is still old-school, though.

great people – and dog – watching here, btw. (but aren’t most places like that in austin?)
